As a primary school we have an important mission to develop understanding and respect in an increasingly complex and diverse world.

In our local community, pupils are growing up with access to a wide number of multicultural, multiracial and locality based influences.  The children develop attitudes towards minority groups based on family attitudes and media content which can be widely available and free from filter or explanation.

CMPS stands against all forms of discrimination based on ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or ability.

At CMPS we aim:

To promote a 'moral compass' through appropriate curricular spiritual, moral, social and cultural development opportunities, with particular reference to issues of equality and diversity.

To reduce prejudice and increase understanding of equality through direct teaching across the curriculum

To reduce the incidence of hostile attitudes and behaviour towards, and between, disabled and non-disabled pupils

To promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experiences both in and beyond the school

To continually consider how well the school ensures equality of opportunities for all its pupils

To tackle prejudice and promote understanding in relation to people with disabilities

To ensure we live to our school values of being Safe, Ready and Respectful.
