The children searching for different crab species down this strip of the beach. We are finding that each species has a preferred position on the beach, for instance, Shore Crabs like it towards the upper shore whereas, Montagu’s Crabs are most prolific towards the lower shore. The children record all crabs that have been found and which zone of the beach we found them in, then input the information onto our data base during the weeks when the tide is in.
Here are pictures of some of the animals that we have found during September. When we find non-crab species we make a note of them at the bottom of the recording sheet as well.
